Prioritising Healthy Practices in Turbulent Social, Political & Economic Times
At this 5th episode of Moments with Africa, we will look at how we are prioritising our health while managing social, political and economic challenges. With the global hardships we have been experiencing since the COVID 19 pandemic, our workplaces and other spaces have seen drastic changes that have left people unemployed and unable to manage their lives like before. People are experiencing stress-related illnesses and burnout and barely managing.
As immigrants from the Global South and entrepreneurs, is rest a luxury for us? As parents and guardians, how should we prioritise our mental, physical and emotional well-being? As employees, are our employers making the necessary accommodations for us? How can we improve our working conditions to support our health and stress-reducing goals? Are there traditional African ways of communal healing and strengthening meant for times of crisis? Can decolonising our systems and work spaces avert further damage?
Through our African guests and panel, we seek to demystify and make corrections around African culture, show our diversity and demonstrate the value of receiving information directly from the source. Learning and preserving many of our African traditions is vital for people who are unlearning anti-Blackness and decolonising in general.
